For more than half a century, researchers around the world have been drawing inspiration from nature to design innovative algorithms. From John Holland’s genetic approaches, to modern metaheuristics and neural networks driving today’s artificial intelligence – nature continues to provide powerful metaphors and practical solutions for computing.

The AGH Faculty of Computer Science is proud to launch a new seminar series: “Nature-Inspired Computing Methods.” This initiative aims to create a vibrant space for exchanging ideas, exploring new research directions, and discussing both the opportunities and the philosophical challenges of nature-inspired algorithms.

The seminars are open to everyone – from established researchers to young scientists and students eager to broaden their perspective. The meetings organized by the Vice Dean of AGH Faculty of Computer Science for Science and Cooperation, Prof. Aleksander Byrski, will be an opportunity not only to gain knowledge, but also to find inspiration, establish cooperation, and meet exceptional guests.

The first seminars will take place in autumn 2025:

  • •  November 20, 2025, 12:00 – Prof. El-Ghazali Talbi (University of Lille, France)
  • •  December 4, 2025, 10:00 – Prof. Gabriela Ochoa (University of Stirling, UK)

The seminars will be held in English.
We warmly invite you to join this new scientific initiative at the AGH Faculty of Computer Science!
